Because of flooding crisis, the admission audition for undergraduate and graduate programs will be postponed to January 15, 2012; 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Conservatory of Music, 10th Floor, Rangsit University, Pathumthani. Admission Office is also moved to 6th floor, Sathorn Thani 1 Building, North Sathorn Road, Bangkok for temporary that applicants can buy an application form and apply here (check at website: www.sarthorn.net). Rangsit Completition 2011

The Conservatory of Music and Cultural Promotion Center, Rangsit University would like to invite high school students to the Rangsit Music Competition 2011 in order to compete in the national H.M.King Bhumibol Adulyadej cup for certifications and prizes.

The applicants can send in their V.C.D. or D.V.D. of your songs with your name and your band photo and send it to the Conservatory of Music, Rangsit University, Muang-Ake, Pathumthani 12000. The committee will select 20 applicants for the final.

84 Scholarship

Rangsit University grants 84 scholarships (2 scholarships for Conservatory of Music) to glorify His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the occasion of His Majesty the King’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary.

10 Music Scholarships

Tuition-free Music Scholarships are awarded to 10 incoming students each year. In return, the University expects the recipient to make a major contribution to the musical life of the campus. Note that our admissions decisions are made independently of financial aid decisions; applicants are not judged by their financial standing. Entrance auditions or juries serve as scholarship auditions for the following academic year. Entrance audition must be completed by the December audition date to be considered for the following academic year.

Chamber Music Concert

The Conservatory of music, Rangsit University proudly presents a chamber music concert by students from Young Musicians-Old Masters project. This concert is the second of a yearly events presented by the Thai-German Cultural Center and the Geothe Institute. The performance features great chamber music from various composers, including works for strings, piano, brass and guitar by Beethoven, Mozart, Reinecke and Brahms.

The New RSU Performing Arts Center and Conservatory of Music Building

Located at the center of the new campus behind the "Rising Sun." Our Main concept is to create the main visual linkage with existing campus as well as generate new urban fabric vocabulary. The New RSU Performing Arts Center and Conservatory of Music Building will consist of 35,000 square meters of space including a 1,000 seat concert hall, a black box theatre, a recital hall, large rehearsal rooms, several practice rooms and classrooms, jazz and percussion studios, music libraries, amphitheatre and plenty of study lounges, as well as a state-of-the-art music technology center, a film scoring studio, a center for experimental music, electronic piano labs and composition labs. read more

A Concert Tribute to The Beatles Denny and Byrd

The Conservatory of Music, Rangsit University arranges “a Concert Tribute to the Beatles Denny and Byrd” by Dr. Denny Euprasert – Dean of Conservatory of Music, Rangsit University, Aj. Siriphong Tiptan (Violin) – Head of Department of Music Performance, Rangsit University, Aj. Aphichai Leaumthong (Cello) – Director of Master Program of Conservatory of Music, Rangsit University and more expert musicians on Sunday 4 September, 2011 at 16.00 pm. at Small Hall, Thailand Cultural Centre.

AMRIN - HENNEBERGER ASIA TOUR 2011

“Episodes of E.O.D.” a composition for trombone and piano composed by Rangsit University composer Boonrut Sirirattanapan was included in Asia tour 2011 by world class duo Amrein-Henneberger

Together as musicians as well as actors, they have performed in contemporary music theatricals such as "Lost Highway" by David Lynch, produced by Olga Neuwirth, "Idiot" by Johannes Harneit, "In Vain" by Georg Friedrich Haas, "Das Biest des Monsieur Racine" by Thomas Hertel and "Punch and Judy" by Harrison Birtwistle.

Both Dirk and Jürg have worked closely together on countless musical collaborations in orchestras, duets, chamber music performances, ensembles, improvisational pieces, and, as mentioned above, in contemporary musical theatre for over twenty years. This ongoing collaboration of talent gives the audience a very experienced and complementary performance which can only be attained through the highest of performance standards, synergistic energy, and ideals. The duo will premiere six new works written and commissioned by them on the Asian tour 2011. The duo will again take part at the "Thailand Composer Festival 2011" in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and will be hosted by the University of Manila for an exchange of Philippine and Swiss culture in Manila, Philippines.

In this 2011 Asia concert tour, the duo will perform the complete cycle of “Episodes of E.O.D.” by Boonrut Sirirattanapan, a faculty member from the conservatory of music, Rangsit University. This more than 35 minutes cycle was inspired by the 2009 Oscar winning film “The Hurt Locker” and express the emotional and physical impact of explosive ordinance disposal unit via sounds of trombone and grand piano.

Along with the work of Boonrut, the Duo will perform works by important composers from Frank Martin and Franz Schubert to Chong Kee Yong and Yii Kah Hoe in this year.

RSU World Class Jazz Artists Series

Mr.Alex Foster, world renown saxophonist, will come to perform with RSU Jazz Faculty Ensemble and he will also conduct workshop and clinic at RSU Conservatory of Music. Mr. Foster used to perform with many Great artists such as Miles Davis, Jack DeJohnette, McCoy Tyner and Jaco Pastorius. This activity is part of "RSU World Class Jazz Artists Series" which will be held at Studio A, RSU Conservatory of Music, Building 10th on Tuesday June 21st at 1.30 pm. Free admission.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Siam City Hotel, Bangkok in association with the Thailand Guitar Society and the Conservatory of Music, Rangsit University are once again proud to present South-East Asia’s finest assembly of international guitar players, makers and enthusiasts. Now in its fifth illustrious year, the Asia International Guitar Festival and Competition is surely the biggest and most vibrant event for classical guitar aficionados and music lovers in the region. This year’s agenda includes master classes, guitar exhibits, competitions and concerts by acclaimed world-class musicians hailing from North and Central America, Asia and Europe.

Internationally-acclaimed performers include Pavel Steidl (Czech Republic), Jorge Luis Zamora (Cuba/Costa Rica), etc.

Master classes start each day at 9:30 a.m. followed by further afternoon classes, concerts and competitions; with each day culminating in a spectacular live concert at 8:00 p.m. All concerts are performed in the Siam City Hotel’s Rattanakosin Lounge.

Arcadia Trio
Visiting Professor and Piano Trio from USA from 15-17 June 2011

Ms. Deborah Greitzer (violin), Dr. Linda Jennings (cello) and Dr. Chindarat Charoenwongse are the members of Arcadia Piano Trio, a chamber music group from USA will perform for students and faculty of Rangsit University Conservatory of Music and interested public at 4 pm, Friday 17 June 2011 at Recital Hall, Building 11 Rangsit University. The Trio will perform master pieces from Piano Trio repertoire from Classical, Jazz and Modern piece such as Piano Trios by Schumann, Turina, Bolling and Chen Yi.

The Trio also would be provide a lecture on “Rehearsal Technique for Piano Trio” at 4 pm, Wednesday 15 June 2011 at Recital Hall, Building 11 Rangsit University as well as offer master-classes on their respective instruments to the Conservatory students at RSU Conservatory of Music on 16-17 June.

Interested public are welcome to attend. All even are free of charge.

RSU JAZZ EDUCATION FESTIVAL 2010

As part of the RSU Jazz Education Festival, Joey Calderazzo, a phenomenal jazz pianist, will give a concert with his trio comprising of Eric Revis (bassist) and Donald Edwards (drummer) on the RSU campus this early October.

From the time of his emergence with Michael Brecker in 1986 through his recent work in the Branford Marsalis Quartet, and on five previous albums under his own name, Calderazzo has proved to be among the most intense and engaged of contemporary soloists and accompanists. His energy, technique and rapid fire imagination have marked him as one of the most exciting jazz pianists to emerge in the past two decades. Calderazzo has documented this commanding mastery of group interplay on five previous albums that found him matching ideas and passions with such imposing artists as Brecker, Marsalis, Jerry Bergonzi, Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland, John Patitucci and Jeff “Tain” Watts.

Thailand International Composition Festival at RSU Conservatory of Music
The RSU Conservatory of Music will be the host to the 2010 Thailand International Composition Festival from July 12 - 16, 2010. This year, the TICF provides the opportunity for emerging composers regardless of their nationality to participate in the Thailand International Composers Competition. Five finalists will have an opportunity to work with the TICF Trio and receive comment and consultation from Master Composers including Robert Beaser, Zhou Long, João Pedro Oliveira and Xiaogang Ye.
CM Students Won the KPN Awards
Two Conservatory of Music students celebrate top awards at the KPN Award 2010. Ekkapun Wannasut, a freshman majoring in vocal study, received the Best Vocalist Award, while Anthony Tong, a jazz vocal major who is also in his freshman year, grabbed the runner-up award and the Popular Vote award.

The KPN Award 2010, was organized by the KPN, Ltd.

CM Dean Received the Silpatorn Award
Dr. Denny Euprasert, the Dean of the RSU Conservatory of Music, received the 2009 Silpatorn Award for the Outstanding Artist in Music category from the Office of the Contemporary Art and Culture, Ministry of Culture, Thailand.

The Silpatorn Award is created for contemporary artists whose continuous work not only serves the society but also brings about new challenges to Thai contemporary art circle.

YES Academy at Rangsit University
The YES Academy, a nine-day musical camp sponsored by the Embassy of the United States of America and the American Voices, was hosted by the RSU Conservatory of Music from April 26 - May 4, 2010. Various musical genres were highlighted, including the Broadway, Hip-hop, jazz, classical, and music for children. The colorful event culminated in a two days concerts by participants. See Photos
